Part I of the course (7 weeks) seeks to introduce the student to topics related to aquifer
characteristics, hydrogeology, typical measurements, ground water flow theory,
application of Darcy’s Law, and well mechanics.
Part II (7 weeks) covers
contaminant transport, biodegradation, and NAPL hazardous waste issues. Small group projects will address
actual waste sites, data analysis, and actual use of ground water flow and
transport models. A group project on model application to an actual site is
included.
